Gates workstations
 |
The Paris Public Library currently has ten Internet workstations for
public use. Three of these workstations have only the Internet available at those
workstations. Four of the workstations have Microsoft Office, along with
the internet. Three additional Internet workstations are Gates Workstations, where along
with the Internet patrons also have a host of other programs to aid them in their
research. Other programs available at the Gates Workstations include Microsoft Office,
Encarta Encyclopedia, Encarta World Atlas, and Encarta World Dictionary. Trips can be
easily charted out at the Gates Workstations by using Expedia Streets 2000, which is
updated monthly to include current areas of construction along roads and highways. To aid
our Spanish-speaking patrons one Gates Workstation is completely in Spanish. |
| To use one of our Internet Workstations patrons must have a Paris Public
Library card that is free of fines or overdues and sign a form stating that the
patron has read our Internet
Guidelines. Out of county visitors who do not have a Paris Public Library card may use
our Internet workstations by purchasing a Visitor Internet Use card for $5.00. This card
allows the visitor five sessions on our workstations. Children under the age of 18 must
have a parent or legal guardian sign the Internet Guidelines form before the child is
allowed to use one of our Internet workstations. Chat, Usenet (or newsgroups), games and
credit card purchases are restricted on the Internet workstations. |

The Paris Public Library also offers one non-Internet
workstation that
include Microsoft Word. All of our workstations have
no charge for use, although patrons must pay 15 cents per printed page while printing from
one of the workstations. |
